Overview

Educational institutions, including schools, colleges, universities, and training centers, often require specialized dust control solutions to ensure safe and clean learning environments. Dust can be generated in classrooms, laboratories, workshops, and art studios due to activities such as woodworking, metalworking, chemistry experiments, ceramics, and crafting projects. Ventilation systems can also inadvertently spread dust throughout facilities, affecting air quality. Our most common experience is with school woodshops.

Challenges & Considerations

Safety Compliance: Schools and universities must meet strict health and safety standards to provide a secure environment for learning.

Excessive Noise Concerns: Schools and other educational institutions often have noise as a concern, as they are trying to provide instructional learning when the dust collection system is operating.

Tamper Proof: With a large amount of varying people using the equipment, its important that the equipment is designed and installed in a way that can limit accidental tampering.

Waste Removal: More often than not, the facilities are not equipped with the heavy duty equipment to easily remove large volumes of waste.

Safety is our #1 Priority

We’ve worked on over 1,000 public sector school jobs in Ontario alone. We know, understand and have seen just how important safety is along every single aspect of your dust collection system. Whether it be a spark detection and suppression system complete with a internal deluge system, explosion isolation and venting, or ergonomic safety features – we’ve seen and done it all.

Noise concerns?

Like all industrial equipment, and especially ducting conveying high velocity generating significant vibrations, your dust collector will create a certain amount of noise during operation. We always recommend utilizing a duct silencer and oversizing the return duct line to slow down the air. Furthermore, for top mounted fans we can include an acoustical enclosure which will significantly reduce the noise outside. If noise is REALLY a concern, let us know as we have several other options at our disposal that we’ve utilized in past specialty cases.

Tamper-proofing

We understand these community facilities often have many different people using the system and around the facility. Popular design options include fencing off the collector housing, installing ladder shields, and installing the blast gates near the ceiling.

Waste Disposal Options

Depending on accessibility, we can create a custom lid to fit the container of their local waste management company, so the waste can be rolled out from underneath and picked up by the truck. Alternatively we do offer garbage bag stabilizers for our drums, to reduce the weight and difficulty of manually emptying the drums.
